Motorola today received FCC approval for a second 3G phone based on what is now called the V3x. The E1070 is a relatively slim clamshell with GMS/GPRS 900/1800/1900 and UMTS 2100. It includes many of the same features as the V3x such as dual color displays, Bluetooth (including advanced audio and printing profiles), a MicroSD (TransFlash) slot, audio player, Motorola’s new Linux / Java OS and dual cameras. However the E1070 only has a 1.3 Megapixel external camera. Motorola has not yet announced the E1070, so availability is not yet known.

Motorola today announced the launch of the FOMA M1000, the world’s first-ever WLAN-integrated W-CDMA and GSM/GPRS dual-mode smartphone.

Developed jointly by Motorola and NTT DoCoMo, the new handset is modeled on Motorola’s 3G A1000, which won high acclaim from consumers in Europe and Asia. The M1000 will be available in Japan from July 1, 2005 through NTT DoCoMo channels. “This is a breakthrough for the Japanese market because this goes beyond what was available to consumers here in the past. The fact they can now have 3G, business applications and multi-media functions makes this truly a seamless mobile experience and something Japanese consumers have been waiting for” said Michael Tatelman, Vice President and General Manager of Motorola Mobile Devices Business in North Asia.

The FOMA M1000 is designed to attract today’s increasingly mobile consumers who want connectivity with their workplace, their home, on the road and at play using one device.

Clearly distinct from conventional 3G mobile handsets, the FOMA M1000 provides features such as international roaming, full Internet browsing and high-quality voice and video communications, as well as the capability to send/receive e-mails to multiple addresses with attached files and view major business documents such as Microsoft® Word and Excel documents. The handset is also Bluetooth-enabled and contains Personal Information Manager (PIM) software and a large-capacity memory providing the flexibility to add applications.

The E725 is a new high speed music phone from Motorola. It’s interesting that it comes with a standard 3.5mm mini jack. Unlike other high profile “music phones” (including the Sony Ericsson W800i), you can plug in your own regular headphones into the E725. Since most users interested in a high-end portable music device have better headphones than a phone maker could hope to ship, this is a very appealing feature. Additionally, with its roller navigation disc and media player keys, the Motorola E725 allows you to skip from track to track quickly and easily.

The E725 delivers the music you want in just seconds. Advanced EV-DO network capability lets you wirelessly download your favorite music tracks and videos to your handset. Sync it with your PC and take your music collection wherever you go or hit the streets and download over-the-air. The ultimate audio experience is in the palm of your hand via integrated dual-speakers, stereo headset port and advanced 3D stereo surround sound. With dedicated music keys, 5-band graphic equalizer, audio synchronized rhythm lights and up to 1GB of storage on the optional removable memory card for music and multimedia content, the Motorola E725 has everything you need in a mobile media device. It is expected to be available in the Americas in the first half of 2005.

Key features:

  • EV-DO high-speed data
  • 41MB internal memory plus MiniSD card slot for up to 1GB extra storage for media files
