Samsung’s SGH-Z710 is an impressively compact clamshell. Its high-resolution display measures up nicely, as does video calling and the capabilities of its 3.2 Megapixel camera. The music player is not the best one around- but with the right price tag and given broad availability, the SGH-Z710 could very well become one of this summer’s best-selling handsets.
As Samsung’s first 3.2 Megapixel camera phone for the European market, the SGH-Z710 focuses primarly on imaging but also includes a raft of other high-end features such as 3G connectivity, a music player and a stereo FM radio. A swivel clamshell, the handset incorporates both an external 1.1-inch display and an internal 2.15-inch, 262K colour display, initiating camera mode through a sequence of opening the flip, rotating 180 degrees and closing the flip to allow for the largest display to function as a viewfinder for the autofocus-enabled camera.
Other highlights include 128 MB of on-board memory and a microSD slot for memory expansion, as well as USB connectivity, Bluetooth and a file viewer for Microsoft Office document formats.
Weighing in at 107 g, the SGH-Z710 is also slated for an arrival later this summer and, as with the SGH-i320, currently bears no price tag.
